Join us for a community meeting to learn about the proposed priority projects and provide feedback. You can join in one of the three virtual meetings or follow along on your own time. See details under OPTION 1 and OPTION 2 to learn more.

You can also skip the virtual meetings and jump right in. All participants are asked to view specific project details and provide rankings at: http://bit.ly/JCPedExperience. A few good notes about this platform.

1. There are 67 projects! It is a lot so we recommend just navigating to the area you are interested in and ranking those projects.

2. You probably already took a survey about this project. This the second and final survey, the purpose of which is to gather your

feedback about the draft projects for ranking purposes.

From here, we will develop cost estimates and conceptual designs for the top ranked projects.

Jackson County Walks: Pedestrian Plan & Greenway Master Plan

The County is creating a Pedestrian Plan and updating their Greenway Master Plan. When complete, these will be guiding documents that provide a path to building sidewalks, crossings, greenways and other infrastructure in the County. The project is guided by a Steering Committee that includes staff from local, county and state government as well as other community partners and stakeholders. Two community meetings are planned, both will take place in northern and southern ends of the County.

Vision Statement

Jackson County is a place where anyone, regardless of age, ability, or socio-economic background can safely travel as a pedestrian for transportation and recreation, and where walking is fostered to create a prosperous and livable community for our children and future generations.

Goals:

  • Reduce pedestrian involved crashes and improve safety for all
  • Improve network and connectivity to points of interest and commercial areas by developing an action-oriented prioritization of projects investing in sidewalks, greenways, and crossings
  • Prioritize connections of schools and colleges
  • Promote inclusiveness and equity
  • Provide opportunities for physical activity and improved health
